Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device which has excellent uniformity in the color and luminance of planar light, while suppressing increase in the number of sheets of light guide plates, even in the case where a plurality of kinds of light sources are arranged.SOLUTION: A surface light source device 110 includes: a plurality of kinds of light sources (that is, first, second light sources 71, 72); a light guide plate 9 which has a light incident surface 9c on a side surface and a light emission surface 9a on a principal surface; and a plurality of kinds of coating materials (that is, first, second coating materials) coated on an opposite surface (that is, rear surface 9b) from the light emission surface 9a of the light guide plate 9. The plurality of kinds of light sources are arranged opposing to the light incident surface 9c of the light guide plate 9. The plurality of kinds of coating materials have different light scattering characteristics from each other, and the plurality of kinds of coating materials are coated without being overlapped with each other. 【課題】本発明は、複数種類の光源を配置する場合であっても、導光板の枚数の増大を抑制しつつ、面状光の色および輝度の均一性に優れた面光源装置の提供を目的とする。【解決手段】本発明に係る面光源装置110は、複数種類の光源(即ち、第1、第2の光源71,72)と、側面に光入射面9c、主面に光出射面9aを有する導光板9と、導光板9の光出射面9aと反対側の面(即ち裏面9b)に塗布された複数種類の塗料(即ち第1、第2の塗料)と、を備え、複数種類の光源は、導光板9の光入射面9cに対向して配置され、複数種類の塗料は、互いに光散乱特性が異なり、複数種類の塗料は、互いに重ならずに塗布されている。【選択図】図1
