PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device for a vehicle capable of preventing erroneous detection that a road structure such as a curbstone is a target.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device for a vehicle includes a radar device 4 which is provided between the rear surface of a bumper 6 and a wheel 2 on at least either the right or left of a vehicle and detects an obstacle by transmitting a radio wave in the outer direction. In this device, an erroneous detection prevention means 7 is provided which prevents the erroneous detection from being caused by road structure arrival waves α which are reflected back from the road structure after part of transmission waves from the radar device 4 arrive at the road structure on outside of the vehicle. 【課題】縁石などの道路構造物がターゲットであると誤検知するのを防止できる車両用障害物検出装置の提供を目的とする。【解決手段】車両の少なくとも左右何れか一方においてバンパ６裏面と車輪２との間に設けられて車両外方へ電波を送信することにより障害物を検出するレーダ装置４を備えた車両用障害物検出装置であって、上記レーダ装置４からの送信波の一部が車両外側の道路構造物に到達し、該道路構造物から帰来する道路構造物到達波αにより生じる誤検知を防止する誤検知防止手段７を備えたことを特徴とする。【選択図】図４
