PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine and the exchange method of currency capable of executing merchandise selection and exchange processing for ejecting currency of denomination corresponding to the amount of selected merchandise from at least a currency ejection part in the case of exchanging currency received by a currency reception part, and ejecting the currency of denomination to be prepared by one time exchange processing.SOLUTION: The automatic vending machine includes: a currency reception part (for example, coin insertion port or paper money reception/payment port) for receiving currency; merchandise selection means 21 for selecting one or more specific merchandise from among a plurality of merchandise; a currency ejection part (for example, coin outlet or paper money reception/payment port) for ejecting currency; and a control part 12 for, when currency received by the currency reception part is exchanged, executing merchandise selection and exchange processing for ejecting the currency of denomination corresponding to the amount of the merchandise selected by the merchandise selection means 21 from at least the currency ejection part. 【課題】貨幣受付部により受け付けられた貨幣の両替を行う際に、選択された商品の金額に対応する金種の貨幣を少なくとも貨幣払出部から払い出す商品選択両替処理を実行することができるため、１回の両替処理で作り出したい金額の貨幣を払い出すことができる自動販売機および貨幣の両替方法を提供する。【解決手段】自動販売機は、貨幣を受け付ける貨幣受付部（例えば、硬貨投入口や紙幣入出金口）と、複数の商品の中から一または複数の特定の商品の選択を行う商品選択手段２１と、貨幣の払い出しを行う貨幣払出部（例えば、硬貨取出口や紙幣入出金口）と、貨幣受付部により受け付けられた貨幣の両替を行う際に、商品選択手段２１により選択された商品の金額に対応する金種の貨幣を少なくとも貨幣払出部から払い出す商品選択両替処理を実行することができる制御部１２とを備えている。【選択図】図２
