Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a failure that occurs when a self-propelled vacuum cleaner sucks a foreign matter that is not originally to be sucked.SOLUTION: A vacuum cleaner includes: a suction part having a suction port to suck a cleaning target; a suction drive part for sucking a cleaning target from the suction port and taking the target into a dust collection chamber; a travel drive part for allowing a self device to perform self-propelling; a foreign matter detection part for detecting a foreign matter other than a cleaning target; and a control unit for controlling the suction drive part and/or travel drive part to temporarily stop when the foreign matter detection part detects a foreign matter during a cleaning operation. 【課題】自走式の電気掃除装置が、本来、吸い込むべきない異物を吸い込んでしまうことによる故障を未然に防止することができる。【解決手段】掃除対象物を吸い込むための吸い込み口を有する吸い込み部と、吸い込み口から掃除対象物を吸引して集塵室に取り込むようにするための吸引駆動部と、自装置を自走させるための走行駆動部と、掃除対象物以外の異物を検出する異物検出部と、掃除動作中に、異物検出部で異物を検出したときに、吸引駆動部及び/または走行駆動部を一時停止するように制御する制御部とを備える。【選択図】図11
