PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can suppress a reduction in durability of an endless member resulting from scratches on the inner peripheral surface of the endless member, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: In a fixing device 100, when a contact member 152 is moved from a separation position to a contact position, a part on the downstream side of the contact member 152 is first brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of a fixing belt 102 in a direction of rotation of the fixing belt 102 (see Figure 1). Thus, the inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 102 does not hit hard against an upper end surface 204 of the contact member 152, and thereby the inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 102 is suppressed from being damaged. The suppression of damage to the inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 102 can suppress a reduction in durability of the fixing belt 102 due to the damage to the inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 102. 【課題】無端部材の内周面の傷付きに起因して無端部材の耐久性が低下するのを抑制することができる定着装置、画像形成装置を得る。【解決手段】定着装置１００では、接触部材１５２を離間位置から接触位置に移動させようとすると、先ず、定着ベルト１０２の回転方向おいて、接触部材１５２の下流側の部分が定着ベルト１０２の内周面に接触する（図１参照）。これにより、定着ベルト１０２の内周面が、接触部材１５２の上端面２０４と強く当たることがない。このため、定着ベルト１０２の内周面に傷が付いてしまうのが抑制される。定着ベルト１０２の内周面への傷付きが抑制されることで、定着ベルト１０２の内周面への傷付きに起因して定着ベルト１０２の耐久性が低下するのが抑制される。【選択図】図１
