PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can precisely cut a print sheet in a conveyance direction thereof with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a print sheet position detecting portion 60 that detects a distance from a reference position 67a to a side face 8c in a width direction of a print sheet 8; and a slitter blade 80 that cuts the print sheet 8 in the conveyance direction in which the print sheet 8 is conveyed, and further comprises a distance calculating portion 66 that calculates the distance from the reference position 67a to the side face 8c in the width direction of the print sheet 8 on the basis of rotation amounts that a rotation amount detecting portion 63 detects accompanying a state change between a state in which one end (that is a tip 65a) of a lever 65 comes in contact with the side face 8c of the print sheet 8 and a state in which the one end (the tip 65a) of the lever 65 comes in contact with a wall face 67. A position of the slitter blade 80 is adjusted in a sheet-width direction of the print sheet 8 according to the distance detected by the distance calculating portion 66. 【課題】本発明は、簡易な構成で、印刷用紙をその搬送する方向に精度良く切断することができるプリンタの提供を目的とする。【解決手段】本発明に係るプリンタは、基準位置６７ａから印刷用紙８の幅方向の側面８ｃまでの距離を検出する印刷用紙位置検出部６０と、印刷用紙８を、印刷用紙８が搬送される搬送方向に切断するスリッタ刃８０と、を備え、レバー６５の他端（即ち先端６５ａ）が印刷用紙８の側面８ｃに当接した状態と、レバー６５の他端（先端６５ａ）が壁面６７に当接した状態との間の状態変化に伴って回転量検出部６３が検出する回転量に基づいて、基準位置６７ａから印刷用紙８の幅方向の側面８ｃまでの距離を算出する距離算出部６６をさらに備え、距離算出部６６が算出した距離に応じて、スリッタ刃８０の位置を印刷用紙８の用紙幅方向に調整する。【選択図】図１
