Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simpler and easier method for manufacturing a retardation film.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a retardation film includes the steps of: applying, to a substrate, a composition formed by containing a crystalline polymer with a photoreactive group and a solvent; removing the solvent in the composition, by drying the composition under reduced pressure or by drying the composition under heating at a temperature less than a liquid crystal phase temperature of the crystalline polymer after having naturally dried the composition, to form a photoreactive layer; irradiating the photoreactive layer with linear polarized light to form a heat orientation layer; and subjecting the heat orientation layer to a heat treatment at a temperature which is the liquid crystal phase temperature of the crystalline polymer or more and less than an isotropic phase transition temperature. 【課題】より簡単かつ簡便な位相差フィルムの製造方法を提供すること。【解決手段】基板に、光反応性基を有する液晶性ポリマーと溶媒とを含んでなる組成物を塗布する工程と、該組成物を減圧乾燥するか、又は自然乾燥した後液晶性ポリマーの液晶相温度未満の温度で加熱乾燥することにより、該組成物中の溶媒を留去して、光反応性層を形成する工程と、該光反応性層に直線偏光を照射して、熱配向性層を形成する工程と、該熱配向性層を液晶性ポリマーの液晶相温度以上かつ等方相転移温度未満の温度で加熱処理する工程とを含むことを特徴とする、位相差フィルムの製造方法。【選択図】なし
