PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill identification device that corrects the tilt of a bill, inserted from a bill inserting inlet, in a conveyance direction and moves the bill to a predetermined position of a conveyance passage to convey the bill.SOLUTION: A bill identification device includes a bill position guiding mechanism 30 composed of: a drive side helical gear 33 fixed to a drive shaft 32 to rotate; a moving side helical gear 35 for moving a follower shaft 34, rotating by following the rotation of the drive shaft 32 generated by engagement with the drive side helical gears 33, to one direction of a bill conveying part 3; and a bill guide 36 supporting a bill S, being in contact with the moving side helical gear 35 and conveyed in accordance with the movement, to guide the bill to the one direction of the bill conveying part 3. 【課題】紙幣挿入口から挿入された紙幣の搬送方向の傾きを補正して搬送通路の所定の位置に移動させて搬送する紙幣識別装置を提供する。【解決手段】駆動軸３２に固定されて回転する駆動側斜歯歯車３３と、駆動側斜歯歯車３３に噛み合わされて駆動軸３２が回転することに従動して回転する従動軸３４を紙幣搬送部３の一方向に移動する移動側斜歯歯車３５と、移動側斜歯歯車３５に当接してその移動に連動して搬送される紙幣Ｓを挟持して紙幣搬送部３の一方向に案内する紙幣ガイド３６とから構成される紙幣位置案内機構３０を有している。【選択図】図３
