PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill identification device that corrects the tilt of a bill, inserted from a bill inserting inlet, in a conveyance direction and adjusts the position of the bill to the center of a conveyance passage to convey the bill.SOLUTION: A bill identification device includes a bill position guiding mechanism 30 composed of: a pair of drive side helical gears 33a, 33b that are fixed to a drive shaft 32 to rotate and whose helical tooth directions are symmetrical; moving side helical gears that are movably provided in a longitudinally center direction of a follower shaft 34 rotating by following the rotation of the drive shaft 32 generated by engagement with the pair of drive side helical gears 33a, 33b respectively; and bill guides 36a, 36b that support the bill, being in contact with each of the pair of moving side helical gears and conveyed in accordance with the movement, from its right and left sides to guide the bill to a central direction of a bill conveying part. 【課題】紙幣挿入口から挿入された紙幣の搬送方向の傾きを補正して搬送通路の中心に合わせて搬送する紙幣識別装置を提供する。【解決手段】駆動軸３２に固定されて回転する斜歯の方向を対称とする一対の駆動側斜歯歯車３３ａ、３３ｂと、一対の駆動側斜歯歯車３３ａ、３３ｂのそれぞれに噛み合わされて駆動軸３２が回転することに従動して回転する従動軸３４の長手中心方向に移動自在に設けられた移動側斜歯歯車と、一対の移動側斜歯歯車のそれぞれに当接してその移動に連動して搬送される紙幣をその左右から挟持して紙幣搬送部の中心方向に案内する紙幣ガイド３６ａ、３６ｂとから構成される紙幣位置案内機構３０を有している。【選択図】図５
