【課題】高効率、高耐久性の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子用の材料として、正孔の注入・輸送性能に優れ、電子阻止能力を有し、薄膜状態での安定性が高く、耐熱性に優れた特性を有する有機化合物の提供。【解決手段】式（１）で表されるトリフェニレン環構造を有する化合物。（式中、Ａｒ１、Ａｒ２は、置換もしくは無置換の芳香族炭化水素基、置換もしくは無置換の芳香族複素環基または置換もしくは無置換の縮合多環芳香族基であり、Ｒ１、Ｒ２、Ｒ３は、置換基であり、ｒ１、ｒ２、ｒ３は相互に同一でも異なってもよく、ｒ１、ｒ２は０または１〜４の整数を表し、ｒ３は０または１〜３の整数を表す。）【選択図】なし A triphenylene derivative according to the present invention is represented by general formula (1) (wherein Ar1 and Ar2 independently represent an aromatic group). The compound has such a structure that an aromatic tertiary amine is introduced into a triphenylene ring. Therefore, the compound has the properties (A) to (E) mentioned below which are associated with the structure, and is useful as a hole-transporting substance to be used in an organic EL element: (A) the hole injection property is good; (B) the hole mobility is high; (C) the electron stopping ability is excellent; (D) the state is stable when formed into a thin film; and (E) the heat resistance is excellent.
