PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter, which gives an excellent contrast ratio and brightness and other favorable characteristics (heat resistance, light fastness, sensitivity, and the like) when used for a color filter, and a color filter using the composition.SOLUTION: The coloring composition for a color filter comprises a colorant, a binder resin, and an organic solvent. The colorant includes one of the following yellow salt-forming dyes: (a) a yellow salt-forming dye YAb comprising a yellow anionic pigment derivative YA and a yellow cationic dye Yb; (b) a yellow salt-forming dye YaB comprising a yellow anionic dye Ya and a yellow cationic pigment derivative YB; and (c) a yellow salt-forming dye Yab comprising the yellow anionic dye Ya and the yellow cationic dye Yb. 【課題】本発明が解決しようとする課題は、カラーフィルタに使用した際に明度、コントラスト比に優れ、かつその他特性（耐熱性、耐光性、感度）が良好なカラーフィルタ用着色組成物、およびそれを用いたカラーフィルタを提供することにある。【解決手段】着色剤、バインダー樹脂、および有機溶剤を含有するカラーフィルタ用着色組成物であって、該着色剤が（ａ）黄色系アニオン性色素誘導体ＹＡと黄色系カチオン性染料Ｙｂとからなる黄色系造塩染料ＹＡｂ。（ｂ）黄色系アニオン性染料Ｙａと黄色系カチオン性色素誘導体ＹＢとからなる黄色系造塩染料ＹａＢ。（ｃ）黄色系アニオン性染料Ｙａと黄色系カチオン性染料Ｙｂとからなる黄色系造塩染料Ｙａｂ。いずれかの黄色系造塩染料を含有することを特徴とするカラーフィルタ用着色組成物により解決される。【選択図】なし
