Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle device and an on-vehicle device control method capable of acquiring information necessary for communication without damaging user's convenience.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle device 100 which performs radio communication with a mobile terminal 200 comprises: a discrimination unit 1132 which discriminates an operating system installed on the mobile terminal 200; and a holding unit 1133 which stores and holds the identification information of the mobile terminal 200 that the discrimination unit 1132 discriminates the operating system thereof and the operating system information of the mobile terminal 200 in a memory unit 124.
