PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for forming a surface-coating film which is arranged so that a surface-coating film is formed by a simple manner and therefore, the manufacturing cost of finished products can be reduced, and which can offer a finished product superior in performance such as carrier lifetime; and a solar battery having a surface-coating film formed by such a method for forming a surface-coating film.SOLUTION: A method for forming a surface-coating film comprises the steps of: forming a coating film by use of a composition for surface-coating film formation which includes a compound component for surface-coating film formation and an organic solvent component; and then, sintering the coating film to form the surface-coating film. In the method, the compound component for surface-coating film formation includes a compound including an element selected from Si, Ti and Zr, and capable of being dissolved in the organic solvent component, and a compound including an element selected from metal elements having a valence of 3, and capable of being dissolved in the organic solvent component. 【課題】簡易な方法で表面被覆膜を形成することで最終製品の製造コストを低減でき、キャリアのライフタイム等の性能に優れる最終製品を与えることができる表面被覆膜の形成方法と、当該表面被覆膜の形成方法により形成された表面被覆膜を有する太陽電池とを提供すること。【解決手段】Ｓｉ、Ｔｉ、及びＺｒから選択される元素を含み有機溶剤成分に可溶な化合物と、原子価３を有する金属元素から選択される元素を含み有機溶剤成分に可溶な化合物とを含む表面被覆膜形成用化合物成分と、有機溶剤成分とを含む表面被覆膜形成用組成物を用いて塗布膜を形成した後に、当該塗布膜を焼成して表面被覆膜を形成する。【選択図】なし
