PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print control unit which allows a user to only specify a finish size (or magnification), and is capable of executing print processing in an appropriate direction and the minimum number of divisions when printing a poster by using a printer for recording on continuous paper.SOLUTION: The number of divisions is calculated, for dividing a magnified image obtained by magnifying an original image on the basis of the length of the short side of a finish size specified by a user, and the length in the width direction of continuous paper. Then, the magnified image is divided in the short side direction on the basis of the number of divisions, and record data is generated by layout of the plurality of division images generated within the size of the output paper. 【課題】連続紙に記録するプリンタを用いてポスター印刷を行う際、ユーザが仕上がりサイズ（又は拡大率）を指定するのみで、適切な向きと最小の分割数で印刷処理を実行することが可能な印刷制御装置を提供する。【解決手段】ユーザが指定した仕上がりサイズの短辺の長さと連続紙の幅方向の長さに基づいて、原稿を拡大して成る拡大画像を分割するための分割数を算出する。そして、当該分割数に基づいて拡大画像を短辺方向に分割し、生成された複数の分割画像を出力用紙サイズ内にレイアウトすることによって記録データを生成する。【選択図】図６
