| Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions comprising finafloxacin and methods for treating an ophthalmic, otic, or nasal infection.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to methods for treating an ophthalmic, otic, or nasal infection comprising treating the infected tissue with a composition comprising finafloxacin or a finafloxacin derivative. In addition, the present invention also relates to antimicrobial compositions comprising finafloxacin or a finafloxacin derivative. The compositions are suitable for the treatment of ophthalmic, otic, or nasal infections. The compositions and methods of the present invention are useful in the treatment of acute otic infections, particularly those of the external ear canal such as acute otitis externa (AOE) and acute otitis media with tympanostomy tubes (AOMT).
