Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of modifying an organic substance to reduce a molecular weight thereof in order to convert the organic substance such as a plastic into a gas fuel or the like, using a gas mixture (g) containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide produced by a shift reaction for forming hydrogen by adding excessive steam to gas containing carbon monoxide, and steam that is not consumed in the shift reaction, and a method of controlling the heat of combustion of a gas product produced by molecular weight reduction.SOLUTION: Provided is a method of reducing a molecular weight of an organic substance, comprising controlling the heat of combustion of a gas fuel, produced by molecular weight reduction of the organic substance, by a total flow rate of an exhaust gas gand excessive steam swhich are supplied to a shift reaction vessel 1 where a shift reaction is performed. Specifically provided is a method for modifying an organic substance into low molecular weight materials by contacting a gas mixture with the organic substance in a fluidized-bed furnace for molecular weight reduction using a powder-granular material containing at least one kind selected from a group consisting of Fe, Ni, and Cr as part of a fluid medium. 【課題】プラスチック等の有機物質を気体燃料等に転換するために有機物質を改質して、低分子化する方法で、一酸化炭素を含有するガスに過剰の水蒸気を添加し、水素へ転換させるシフト反応において、シフト反応で生成した水素及び炭酸ガスと、シフト反応に消費されなかった水蒸気とを含む混合ガス(g)とし、この混合ガス(g)で有機物質を改質して低分子化する方法であって、低分子化で生成する気体生成物の燃焼熱を制御する方法の提供。【解決手段】シフト反応を行なうシフト反応器1に供給する排ガスg0と過剰の水蒸気s0の合計流量によって、改質反応器2において有機物質の低分子化により生成する気体燃料の燃焼熱を制御する。Fe、Ni、Crの内少なくとも1種を含有する粉粒体を流動媒体の一部とする流動層低分子化炉において、混合ガスを有機物質と接触させ、有機物質を低分子化へ改質する方法。【選択図】図2
