Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood vessel detection apparatus improved in accuracy in detecting a blood vessel such as an aorta.SOLUTION: A MR apparatus 100 includes image generation means 91 to generate images of m pieces of slices crossing an imaging portion including a lung, a liver, and an aorta, means to obtain an index for determining whether or not the slice crosses the liver on the basis of the image of the slice, selection means 95 to select a first slice crossing the liver from among the m pieces of slices on the basis of the index, and detection means 96 to detect a blood vessel in a second slice crossing the lung on the basis of a position of the aorta detected in the first slice. 【課題】大動脈などの血管の検出精度を向上させた血管検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】ＭＲ装置１００は、肺と肝臓と大動脈とを含む撮影部位を横切るｍ枚のスライスの画像を作成する画像作成手段９１と、スライスの画像に基づいて、スライスが肝臓を横切るか否かを判断するための指標を求める手段と、指標に基づいて、ｍ枚のスライスの中から、肝臓を横切る第１のスライスを選択する選択手段９５と、第１のスライスから検出された大動脈の位置に基づいて、肺を横切る第２のスライスにおける血管を検出する検出手段９６とを有する。【選択図】図１
