Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of detecting a heating body end area, which is to be detected most accurately, when an arrayed thermopile is used as temperature detection means.SOLUTION: A fixing means includes: a fixing member which is rotated in contact with an unfixed image; a pressure member which forms a fixing nip part with the fixing member; heating means which heats the fixing member; and heating control means which controls the heating means. A multi-view thermopile array is used as means for detecting a surface temperature of a fixing member. The thermopile array is arranged on a side apart from a reference position in a paper-passing system, and is obliquely fixed so as to cover an area of a minimum-size sheet to be used. 【課題】温度検知手段としてアレイ型サーモパイルを用いる場合に、最も精度よく温度検出したい加熱体端部領域の検出精度を向上させる。【解決手段】未定着画像に接触して回転する定着部材と、前記定着部材との間で定着ニップ部を形成する加圧部材と、前記定着部材を加熱する加熱手段と、前記加熱手段を制御する加熱制御手段とを有する定着装置において、定着部材の表面温度を検出する手段として、多眼型のサーモパイルアレイを用い、前記サーモパイルアレイは通紙方式における基準位置から離れた側に配置され、且つ使用予定の最小サイズの用紙領域をカバーできるように傾けて取り付けられる。【選択図】図2
