Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging optical device that enables an appropriate determination of whether a panning operation or tilting operation is performed even when an angular velocity sensor is attached to a movable module having a lens and an image pickup element.SOLUTION: An imaging optical device 1 comprises: a movable module 3 that has a lens and an image pickup element; a support body 4 that holds the movable module 3 in a way capable of oscillating the movable module: a spring member that connects the movable module 3 and the support body 4; an oscillation mechanism 5 that causes the movable module 3 to be oscillated with respect to the support body 4; and an angular velocity sensor 7 that is attached to the movable module 3, and detects a change in tilt of the movable module 3. A control unit of the imaging optical device 1 is configured to; detect a direction of a current flowing to drive coils 16 and 18 consisting of the oscillation mechanism 5; and when the direction of the current flowing to the drive coils 16 and 18 remains unchanged for a prescribed time, determine that at least any one of a panning operation of the imaging optical device 1 and tilting operation thereof is being performed. 【課題】レンズおよび撮像素子を有する可動モジュールに角速度センサが取り付けられていても、パンニング動作やチルティング動作が行われているか否かを適切に判別することが可能な撮影用光学装置を提供する。【解決手段】撮影用光学装置1は、レンズおよび撮像素子を有する可動モジュール3と、可動モジュール3を揺動可能に保持する支持体4と、可動モジュール3と支持体4とを繋ぐバネ部材と、支持体4に対して可動モジュール3を揺動させる揺動機構5と、可動モジュール3に取り付けられ可動モジュール3の傾きの変化を検出する角速度センサ7とを備えている。撮影用光学装置1の制御部は、揺動機構5を構成する駆動用コイル16、18に流れる電流の方向を検出し、駆動用コイル16、18に流れる電流の方向が所定時間変わらない場合に、撮影用光学装置1のパンニング動作およびチルティング動作の少なくともいずれか一方が行われていると判別する。【選択図】図1
