Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the N-dealkylation of a tertiary amine.SOLUTION: A method for preparing an N-allyl compound from a tertiary amine comprises converting a tertiary amine into an allyl carbamate, followed by carrying out decarboxylation in a transition metal-catalyzed reaction. A method for preparing a compound as given below comprises bringing the N-allyl compound into contact with an allyl scavenger and a transition metal catalyst. (R14 and R16 each independently represent -OH, -H, or -OR17; R15 represents -OH, -H, -OR17, =O, or =CH2; and R17 represents an oxygen protective group).
