Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali storage battery which enables the increase in both of the rate of utilization of an active material and the high-temperature charge efficiency.SOLUTION: In an alkali storage battery, a positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material having a nickel hydroxide as a primary component. The positive electrode active material has a cobalt compound solid-dissolved therein by 3-12 mass% to the nickel hydroxide; and 30-50 mass% of the cobalt compound is composed of a cobalt oxide with a valence higher than divalent. The positive electrode includes at least one element selected from tungsten, molybdenum and niobium by 0.1-0.7 mass% to the nickel hydroxide. 【課題】活物質利用率及び高温充電効率の両方が向上するアルカリ蓄電池を提供する。【解決手段】本発明のアルカリ蓄電池において、正極は、水酸化ニッケルを主成分とする正極活物質を含有し、正極活物質内には、コバルト化合物が水酸化ニッケルに対して3〜12質量%固溶されており、コバルト化合物の30〜50質量%が、価数が2価よりも大きい高次コバルト酸化物であり、前記正極は、タングステン、モリブデン、ニオブから選択された少なくとも1種の元素が、前記水酸化ニッケルに対して0.1〜0.7質量%含有していることを特徴とする。【選択図】なし
