The prescribed threshold value is varied according to a road surface gradient. For example, the prescribed threshold value is changed to be a larger value on an ascending road in comparison with the flat road, on the other hand to be a smaller value on a descending road in comparison with the flat road. When sudden deceleration of the vehicle occurs and distance between the vehicle and another vehicle running immediately behind is a reference inter-vehicle distance or less, the automatic lighting of the hazard lamp can be performed. In such a case, the reference inter-vehicle distance is changed to be a smaller value on the ascending road in comparison with the flat road, on the other hand to be a larger value on the descending road in comparison with the flat road. 【課題】路面勾配に応じてハザードランプを適切なタイミングで自動点灯させる。【解決手段】コントローラ21の制御によって、車両1の減速度αが所定のしきい値以上となったときに、ハザードランプ2が自動点灯される。路面勾配に応じて、所定のしきい値が変更される。例えば、上記所定のしきい値は、登坂路では平坦路に比して大きい値に変更される一方、降坂路では平坦路に比して小さい値に変更される。車両の急減速時でかつ後続車両との車間距離が所定の基準車間距離以下であるときに、ハザードランプを自動点灯させることもでき、この場合、基準車間距離が、登坂路では平坦路に比して小さい値に変更される一方、降坂路では平坦路に比して大きい値に変更される。【選択図】 図5
