Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residue removal/prevention method which can remove residue entangled with a stirrer in a methane fermentation tank and a methane fermentation tank suitable for execution of such a residue removal method.SOLUTION: A rotation shaft of a stirrer is hollow, and an opening is provided in the vicinity of a connection part connected to a stirring blade in the rotation shaft. A covering member having a plurality of openings and a flat outer surface is attached so as to cover the connection part between the rotation shaft and the stirring blade. The stirrer is operated between normal operation and reverse rotation at constant time intervals. A medium for removal is supplied to the rotation shaft, passed through the opening of the rotation shaft and discharged from the openings of the covering member so as to remove residue entangled with the stirrer. The medium for removal is water, a to-be-treated liquid, digestion gas, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. 【課題】メタン発酵槽内の撹拌装置に絡まったし渣を有効に除去し得るし渣除去防止方法、及びそのようなし渣除去方法の実施に適したメタン発酵槽を提供すること。【解決手段】撹拌装置の回転シャフトを中空とし、回転シャフトには、撹拌翼との接続部分近傍に開口部を設けると共に、回転シャフトと撹拌翼との接続部分を覆うように、複数の開口部を有し、かつ、外表面が平坦な被覆部材を取り付ける。一定期間毎に、撹拌装置を通常運転時と逆回転させると共に、回転シャフトに除去用媒体を供給し、回転シャフトの開口部を経由して被覆部材の開口部から除去用媒体を放出させることにより、撹拌装置に絡まったし渣を除去する。除去用媒体は、水、被処理液、消化ガス、窒素又は二酸化炭素である。【選択図】図2
