Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix converter and a method for compensating an output voltage error, capable of suppressing with high accuracy an output voltage error produced by commutation control, without correction of a voltage command.SOLUTION: The matrix converter includes a command generator and a commutation controller. The command generator generates a control command to specify a PWM control pulse width, on the basis of the voltage command. The commutation controller performs commutation control by controlling a switching element with a predetermined commutation method. The command generator includes a corrector for correcting the pulse width obtained from the voltage command so as to reduce an output voltage error produced by the commutation control, and for generating the control command. 【課題】電圧指令を補正することなく転流制御による出力電圧誤差を精度よく抑制することができるマトリクスコンバータおよび出力電圧誤差の補償方法を提供すること。【解決手段】実施形態に係るマトリクスコンバータは、指令生成部と、転流制御部とを備える。指令生成部は、PWM制御のパルス幅を規定する制御指令を電圧指令に基づいて生成する。転流制御部は、制御指令に基づき、所定の転流方式でスイッチング素子を制御して転流制御を行う。指令生成部は、転流制御によって生じる出力電圧の誤差を低減するように、電圧指令から求められるパルス幅を補正して制御指令を生成する補正部を備える。【選択図】図17
