Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prepreg having high basis weight, which has excellent handleability, an excellent impregnated state, high productivity, and high basis weight of a reinforcing fiber.SOLUTION: The prepreg is obtained by impregnating a reinforcing base material comprising the reinforcing fiber with a thermosetting matrix resin and has 300-2,000 g/mfiber basis weight. The reinforcing fiber is a carbon fiber having 1.0-2.4 dtex average single fiber fineness. It is preferable that the reinforcing fiber is such the carbon fiber that a shape of the cross section perpendicular to the fiber axis of the single fiber has 0.7-0.9 roundness and the diameter Di of the cross section is 8-20 μm. It is also preferable that the matrix resin is a thermosetting resin having 1,000-1,000,000 Pa-s viscosity at 30°C. 【課題】取扱性に優れ、含浸状態も良好であり、かつ生産性の高い、強化繊維目付けの大きな厚目付けプリプレグを提供する。【解決手段】強化繊維からなる強化基材に熱硬化性マトリックス樹脂を含浸してなるプリプレグであって、繊維目付けが300g/m2以上、2000g/m2以下であり、該強化繊維が、その平均単繊維繊度が1.0dtex以上、2.4dtex以下の炭素繊維であることを特徴とするプリプレグである。本発明に用いる強化繊維は、その単繊維の繊維軸に垂直な断面の形状が真円度0.7以上、0.9以下の炭素繊維であることを特徴とし、該断面の直径Diが8μm以上、20μm以下の炭素繊維であることが好ましい。更に、本発明のプリプレグは、マトリックス樹脂が、その30℃における粘度が1000Pa・s以上、1000000Pa・s以下である熱硬化性樹脂であることが好ましい。【選択図】 なし
