Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder capable of saving the number of times of shredded waste discharging effectively by making it possible to decide properly the accumulation degree of shredded waste in a waste basket.SOLUTION: A shredder comprises: an enclosure having an inlet port for inputting an article to be shredded; a shredding mechanism for shredding a shredded article inputted from the inlet port; a waste basket arranged to accommodate the shredded waste shredded by the shredding mechanism, in said enclosure and to take the same out of and in said enclosure; a window disposed in said enclosure and through which the inside of said waste basket can be viewed from the outside; a lighting device disposed inside of said enclosure for irradiating light into said waste basket; and an illumination control mechanism for controlling said lighting device so that light in a mode different from an ordinary time, in which said shredded waste accumulated inside of the waste basket is at or less than a predetermined quantity, may be irradiated when the shredded waste is more than the predetermined quantity.
