Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug excellent in durability by suppressing oxidative consumption without being affected by the oxygen concentration in an environment where a chip is exposed, in a spark plug having the chip provided in at least one of a center electrode and a ground electrode.SOLUTION: A spark plug includes a center electrode and a ground electrode arranged while providing a gap from the center electrode. At least one of the center electrode and ground electrode has a chip for forming the gap, and the chip contains Ir as a main component, 7-31 mass% of Rh, 5-20 mass% of Ru, and Pt of 1/20-1/2 of the content of Ru. 【課題】 この発明は、中心電極及び接地電極の少なくとも一方にチップが設けられたスパークプラグにおいて、このチップが曝された環境における酸素濃度に影響されることなく酸化消耗を抑制することで、耐久性の良好なスパークプラグを提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】 中心電極と前記中心電極との間に間隙を設けて配置された接地電極とを備え、前記中心電極と前記接地電極との少なくとも一方は前記間隙を形成するチップを有し、前記チップは、Irを主成分とし、Rhを7質量%以上31質量%以下、Ruを5質量%以上20質量%以下、及びPtをRuの含有量の20分の1以上2分の1以下含有することを特徴とするスパークプラグ。【選択図】 図1
