Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which can save enough surface outer rigidity of a tyre while suppressing weight increase.SOLUTION: A steel cord 1 consists of five steel core wires 2 and a steel wrapping wire 3. The core wire 2 has a pair of plane parts 2a and a pair of curved surface parts 2b, and its cross section is a flat shape. The core wires 2 are arranged in parallel so that the plane parts 2a face together without being twisted, and the parallel-arranged core wires 2 are bundled up by the wrapping wire 3. The steel cord 1 is buried in an automotive tyre (in a belt layer) while a longer axis direction of the core wire 2 faces for a vertical direction against external circumference surface (ground plane) of the automotive tyre. 【課題】重量増加を抑えつつ十分なタイヤの面外剛性を確保することができるスチールコードを提供する。【解決手段】スチールコード1は,5本のスチール製のコアワイヤ2と,スチール製のラッピングワイヤ3とによって構成される。コアワイヤ2は一対の平面部2aと一対の曲面部2bを有する断面扁平形状のものである。このコアワイヤ2が,撚られることなく上記平面部2a同士が対向するように平行に引き揃えられており,上記平行に引き揃えられたコアワイヤ2がラッピングワイヤ3によって束ねられている。スチールコード1は,コアワイヤ2の長径方向を自動車用タイヤの外周面(接地面)に垂直な方向に向けて,自動車用タイヤ中(ベルト層中)に埋め込まれる。【選択図】図1
