Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the contact of a charging roller cleaning member to a charging roller, and damage to the surface of the charging roller due to rubbing, so as to prevent the occurrence of abnormal images due to the damage to the surface of the charging roller even in an imaging unit including a charging device having improved image quality and the extended life.SOLUTION: A charging device 1 can rotate in contact with a charging roller 2, and includes a brush roller 7 having brush fibers 7a electrostatically implanted in a spiral manner on the surface of a shaft 7b. In the brush roller 7, the implantation width 35 in the circumferential direction of the brush roller 7 is smaller than the contact width 36 between the brush roller 7 and charging roller 2 in the circumferential direction of the brush roller 7.
