Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azo compound excellent in dissolubility for use in inkjet ink, and an oil or aqueous dye composition thereof.SOLUTION: A new azo compound is obtained by condensation reaction of 2 molecules of an azo compound represented by the formula (4) with 1 molecule of a corresponding chromium compound or cobalt compound to obtain a compound, which is finally reacted with a compound having a tetra (1 to 4 carbon alkyl ) ammonium ion. 【課題】インクジェット用インキ等に用いられる溶解性に優れたアゾ化合物並びにその油性又は水性染料組成物の提供。【解決手段】下記式（４）で表されるアゾ化合物の２分子と、対応するクロム化合物若しくはコバルト化合物の１分子とを縮合反応させることにより得られた化合物を、最後にテトラ（炭素数１〜４アルキル）アンモニウムイオンを有する化合物と反応させることにより、新規なアゾ化合物を得る。【選択図】なし
