PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a reduction in a burden of a manual operation performed by an operator, while making a rotating shaft rotatable with great torque by transmitting output of a driving source to the rotating shaft via a reduction gear.SOLUTION: An image recording apparatus includes: a rotating shaft for supporting a recording medium; a driving source that can rotate the rotating shaft; a reduction gear that reduces output of the driving source to impart it to the rotating shaft; and an output transmission switching part that selectively performs the first operation of connecting a transmission path for the output from the reduction gear to the rotating shaft and the second operation of interrupting the transmission path for the output from the reduction gear to the rotating shaft. 【課題】減速機を介して駆動源の出力を回動軸に伝えて大きなトルクで回動軸を回動可能としつつも、作業者による手作業の負担を軽減することを可能とする。【解決手段】記録媒体を支持する回動軸と、回動軸を回動可能な駆動源と、駆動源の出力を減速して回動軸に与える減速機と、減速機から回動軸への出力の伝達経路を繋ぐ第１動作および減速機から回動軸への出力の伝達経路を遮断する第２動作を選択的に実行する出力伝達切換部とを備える。【選択図】図３
