Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable capable of, after removal of a sheath, saving such time and labor as cutting a roughly wound string by using a cutter etc.SOLUTION: In an optical cable 10, a cable core 14 has: units 11a each formed such that multiple coated optical fibers are tied in a bundle; and roughly wound strings 13 wound around the units, and an outside of the cable core is covered with a sheath 15. The roughly wound strings are formed of a material whose breaking strength declines due to heat in extrusion-molding the sheath. Then, the cable core may further have a fibrous interposition 12 disposed around the units.
