PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for a step of inspecting a magnetic disk manufactured by magnetic transfer.SOLUTION: A recording medium control device comprises a magnetic recording medium, storage means, determination means, and seek control means. Servo information transferred from a transfer master is stored in the magnetic recording medium. The storage means stores position information on a defective sector resulting from transfer from the transfer master. Defective sector prediction means predicts a seek route, references the position information on the defective sector, and predicts whether the defective sector is included in the predicted seek route. When the defective sector prediction means predicts that the defective sector is included in the predicted seek route, the seek control means performs seek control, avoiding reading of the servo information on the defective sector. 【課題】磁気転写で製造される磁気ディスクの検査工程に要する時間を短縮する。【解決手段】記録媒体制御装置は、磁気記録媒体と、記憶手段と、判定手段と、シーク制御手段とを備える。磁気記録媒体には、転写マスタから転写されたサーボ情報が記憶されている。記憶手段は、前記転写マスタからの転写に起因する欠陥セクタの位置情報を記憶している。欠陥セクタ予測手段は、シーク経路を予測し、前記欠陥セクタの位置情報を参照して、予測した予測シーク経路に欠陥セクタが含まれるか否かを予測する。シーク制御手段は、前記予測シーク経路中に欠陥セクタが含まれると予測された場合には、前記欠陥セクタのサーボ情報の読み込みを回避してシーク制御を行う。【選択図】図４
