PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flatten a surface of a formation of color filters without separately forming a flattening film, even when the formation of the color filters is performed by overlapping a part of a color filter with a part of an adjoining color filter.SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device with a first color filter, a second color filter and a third color filter, the first, second and third color filters are formed adjoiningly, and one side end part of the second color filter is overlapped, as an upper layer, on one side end part of the first color filter for performing patterning, and an end part of the third color filter is overlapped, as an upper layer, on the another side end part of the second color filter for performing patterning, wherein, an exposure step when the second color filter is patterned is characterized in that an exposure amount for a region corresponding to the one end part is different from an exposure amount for a region corresponding to the another end part. 【課題】カラーフィルタの一部を重ね合わせて形成する場合であっても、別途平坦化膜を形成せずにカラーフィルタの表面を平坦化する。【解決手段】互いに隣接して形成される第１のカラーフィルタと第２のカラーフィルタと第３のカラーフィルタとを有し、第１のカラーフィルタの端部の上層に、第２のカラーフィルタの一方の端部を重ね合わせてパターニングし、第２のカラーフィルタの他方の端部の上層に、第３のカラーフィルタの端部を重ね合わせてパターニングする液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、第２のカラーフィルタをパターニングする際の露光工程は、前記一方の端部に相当する領域の露光量と、前記他方の端部に相当する領域の露光量とが異なることを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。【選択図】 図５
