Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a sodium molten salt battery which enables the suppression of decomposition of a molten salt electrolyte on a negative electrode surface, and the suppression of the worsening of cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: A negative electrode for a sodium molten salt battery comprises: a negative electrode current collector; and a negative electrode mixture layer formed on the surface of the negative electrode current collector. The negative electrode mixture layer includes: negative electrode active material particles; and a coating film formed on the surface of each negative electrode active material particle. The negative electrode active material particles include hard carbon; the coating film includes sodium sulfide. The hard carbon includes sulfur. In the negative electrode mixture layer, the content of the sulfur may be 0.05 mass% or more. 【課題】負極表面での溶融塩電解質の分解を抑制できるとともに、サイクル特性の低下を抑制できるナトリウム溶融塩電池用負極を提供する。【解決手段】ナトリウム溶融塩電池用負極は、負極集電体と、前記負極集電体の表面に形成された負極合剤層とを含み、前記負極合剤層は、負極活物質粒子と、前記負極活物質粒子の表面に形成された被膜とを含み、前記負極活物質粒子はハードカーボンを含み、前記被膜はナトリウム硫化物を含む。ハードカーボンは硫黄を含み、負極合剤層中の硫黄の含有量は0.05質量%以上であってもよい。【選択図】図1
