Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a separator for lithium ion secondary battery capable of producing a long separator of excellent battery characteristics, where the adhesion amount of a coating solution is uniform, stably even if a base material is thin.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a separator for lithium ion secondary battery formed by giving a coating solution, containing inorganic particles or organic particles, to a basic material of nonwoven fabric includes step (A) for squeezing the coating solution uniformly by applying a rod at least to one side of the basic material after the coating solution is carried on the basic material, and step (B) for smoothing the basic material surface on which the coating solution is carried. More preferably, the step (B) is a step for applying a smoothing roll at least to one side of the basic material one or more times. 【課題】本発明の課題は、塗工液の付着量分布が均一で電池特性が良好なセパレータを、基材が薄い場合でも、長尺で安定的に生産することができるリチウムイオン二次電池用セパレータの製造方法を提供することにある。【解決手段】不織布を基材として、無機粒子または有機粒子を含む塗工液を基材に付与してなるリチウムイオン二次電池用セパレータの製造方法であって、基材に塗工液が担持された後、少なくとも基材片面にロッドをあてて担持された塗工液を均一に絞る工程(A)と、塗工液が担持された基材表面を平滑にする工程(B)とを有することを特徴とし、より好ましくは、工程(B)が、少なくとも基材片面に1回以上スムージングロールをあてる工程であるリチウムイオン二次電池用セパレータの製造方法。【選択図】図1
