Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-diffusion electrode base material for a fuel cell, having excellent flooding resistance and dry-up resistance, capability to achieve high electricity generation across a broad temperature range from low temperatures to high temperatures, and excellent mechanical properties, conductivity, and heat transmission.SOLUTION: There are provided a gas-diffusion electrode base material for a fuel cell and a method for producing the gas-diffusion electrode base material for a fuel cell. The gas-diffusion electrode base material for a fuel cell is a gas-diffusion electrode base material including a microporous layer arranged on one surface of an electrode base material that is a porous body. The microporous layer has a hole penetrating through the thickness direction thereof, and the hole is connected to a surface opposite to a surface where the microporous layer is arranged in the electrode base material. 【課題】耐フラッディング性、耐ドライアップ性に優れ、低温から高温の広い温度範囲にわたって高い発電性能を発現可能であり、さらには、機械特性、導電性、熱伝導性が優れる燃料電池用ガス拡散電極基材を提供する。【解決手段】 多孔体である電極基材の片面に、マイクロポーラス層を配置させたガス拡散電極基材であって、前記マイクロポーラス層には、その厚み方向に貫通する空孔を有し、前記空孔が電極基材においてマイクロポーラス層が配置されている面と反対の面に連結している、燃料電池用ガス拡散電極基材およびその製造方法。【選択図】なし
