PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: a fan motor is susceptible to mixing of foreign matter into an opening, because the opening serves as a foreign matter inflow path on ground that the opening between a fan boss and a motor is directed to windward in the fan motor.SOLUTION: A fan motor includes a cup-shaped fan boss for supporting a fan, and a motor case that is housed in the fan boss and that has a built-in motor for driving the fan. A protrusion for covering an opening end of the fan boss is formed in a part of the motor case. An outer peripheral end of the protrusion is positioned on a radial outside with respect to an inside diameter of the fan boss. 【課題】ファンモータにおいて、ファンボスとモータの間の開口部が風上を向いているため異物の流入経路になっていることから開口部に異物が混入しやすい。【解決手段】ファンモータは、ファンを支持するカップ形状のファンボスと、このファンボス内に収納され前記ファンを駆動するモータを内蔵するモータケースを備え、前記モータケースの一部に前記ファンボスの開放端部を覆う突起部を形成した。そして、この突起部の外周端はファンボスの内径よりも径方向外側に位置するようにした。【選択図】 図１
