Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coating composition which contains a titanium dioxide pigment and from which a coating film excellent in weather resistance is obtained, and to provide a coated article having a coating film excellent in weather resistance.SOLUTION: The method for producing a coating composition comprises: a first mixing step of mixing titanium dioxide particles having a dense surface coating layer comprising at least one selected from silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and cerium oxide with one selected from a silicate compound and a dispersion liquid in which particles of an inorganic oxide selected from silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and cerium oxide are dispersed; and a second mixing step of mixing the mixture obtained in the first mixing step with a coating resin. The coated article has a coating film formed of the coating composition obtained by the method. 【課題】二酸化チタン顔料を含有する塗料用組成物において、得られる塗膜が耐候性に優れる塗料用組成物の製造方法および耐候性に優れる塗膜を有する塗装物品を提供する。【解決手段】酸化ケイ素、酸化アルミニウム、酸化ジルコニウムおよび酸化セリウムから選ばれる少なくとも1種からなる緻密な表面被覆層を有する二酸化チタン粒子と、シリケート化合物、並びに、酸化ケイ素、酸化アルミニウム、酸化ジルコニウムおよび酸化セリウムから選ばれる無機酸化物の粒子が分散した分散液、から選ばれる1種とを混合する第1の混合工程と、前記混合工程で得られた混合物と塗料用樹脂とを混合する第2の混合工程とを有する塗料用組成物の製造方法およびこれにより得られる塗料用組成物から形成される塗膜を有する塗装物品。【選択図】なし
