PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve throughput of a wireless communication system while saving power in a wireless LAN base station.SOLUTION: A wireless terminal has: means which acquires the position of the wireless terminal itself; and means which notifies a control device connected to a mobile phone network and a wireless LAN of acquired position information through a mobile base station. The control device has: means which determines whether or not a wireless LAN base station which can be connected in the neighborhood of the wireless terminal is present on the basis of the position information; means which transmits a control signal for giving an instruction to turn on to the wireless LAN base station when the wireless LAN base station is present; and means for notifying the wireless terminal of information required for connection with the wireless LAN base station through the mobile base station. The wireless LAN base station has means to turn on the power according to the control signal. The wireless terminal starts connection with the wireless LAN base station using information required for connection with the wireless LAN base station which is notified from the control device. 【課題】無線ＬＡＮ基地局の省電力化を図るとともに、無線通信システムのスループットを改善する。【解決手段】無線端末は、自らの位置を取得する手段と、取得した位置情報を携帯基地局を介して、携帯電話網および無線ＬＡＮに接続される制御装置に通知する手段を備え、制御装置は、その位置情報に基づき無線端末の近傍に接続可能な無線ＬＡＮ基地局が存在するか否かを判断する手段と、存在すれば当該無線ＬＡＮ基地局に対して電源オンを指示する制御信号を送信する手段と、当該無線ＬＡＮ基地局との接続に必要な情報を携帯基地局を介して無線端末に通知する手段とを備え、無線ＬＡＮ基地局は、制御信号に応じて電源オンとする手段を備え、無線端末は、制御装置から通知された無線ＬＡＮ基地局との接続に必要な情報を用いて、当該無線ＬＡＮ基地局との接続を開始する。【選択図】 図１
