PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice coil motor capable of significantly reducing unnecessary torque (flexure torque and twisting torque) and achieving low cost, and a magnet used for the voice coil motor.SOLUTION: A voice coil motor includes a magnet 1 having a pair of magnetic pole parts 1a and 1b whose polarity is different via a neutral part 1c between them. One side face from one of the magnetic pole parts 1a and 1b to the other via the neutral part 1c is flat. Width at each of the wing parts 1d and 1e of the magnetic pole parts 1a and 1b is equal to or greater than one-and-a-half times of width in the neutral part 1c. At least one of lines perpendicular to a plane in parallel to one side face passing through the wing parts 1d and 1e intersects with the one side face. 【課題】不要なトルク（曲げトルク及びねじりトルク）を大幅に低減できるとともに、低コスト化を図れるボイスコイルモータ及び該ボイスコイルモータに用いる磁石を提供する。【解決手段】極性が異なる一対の磁極部分１ａ，１ｂを、その間にニュートラル部分１ｃを介して有する磁石１を備えるボイスコイルモータであって、磁極部分１ａ，１ｂの一方からニュートラル部分１ｃを経て他方までの一方の側面が平坦であり、磁極部分１ａ，１ｂそれぞれの翼部１ｄ，１ｅにおける幅がニュートラル部分１ｃにおける幅の１．５倍以上であり、翼部１ｄ，１ｅを通って一方の側面と平行な面に垂直である直線の少なくとも一つが一方の側面と交差する。【選択図】図４
