Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch air-fuel ratios with favorable responsiveness while smoothly changing torque according to a requirement of a driver, in an internal combustion engine which can switch a target air-fuel ratio between at least the two air-fuel ratios.SOLUTION: In response to the reduction of required torque (TQr1) to a reference value (Ref) or lower, a value of a parameter (AFh) for use in the calculation of a target air amount (KLt) for obtaining the required torque (TQr1) is changed to a value for lowering conversion efficiency to the torque of the air amount. The target air amount (KLt) is calculated backward from the required torque (TQr1) by using the parameter (AFh). Then, after the value of the parameter (AFh) is changed to the value for lowering the conversion efficiency, a target air-fuel ratio (Aft) is switched from a first air-fuel ratio to a second air-fuel ratio which is leaner than the first air-fuel ratio. 【課題】目標空燃比を少なくとも2つの空燃比の間で切り替え可能に構成された内燃機関において、ドライバの要求に応じてトルクを滑らかに変化させながら空燃比を応答良く切り替えることを可能とする。【解決手段】要求トルク(TQr1)の基準値(Ref)以下への減少に応答して、要求トルク(TQr1)を達成するための目標空気量(KLt)の計算に使用するパラメータ(AFh)の値を空気量のトルクへの変換効率を下げる値へ変更する。目標空気量(KLt)はパラメータ(AFh)を用いて要求トルク(TQr1)から逆算される。そして、パラメータ(AFh)の値が変換効率を下げる値へ変更された後、目標空燃比(AFt)を第1空燃比から第1空燃比よりもリーンな第2空燃比へ切り替える。【選択図】図3
