Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption without allowing a user to perceive lowering of brightness of light.SOLUTION: A backlight module of a display device includes a light source, an optical drive control section and a drive current adjustment section. The optical drive control section outputs drive current for the light source. The drive current adjustment section lowers a current value of drive current supplied to the light source from a first current value to a second current value for each predetermined period. Then, the drive current adjustment section further increases the current value so that light of a light amount corresponding to a reduced amount of the brightness of an optical image perceived on the basis of an after-image phenomenon of human eyes is emitted from the light source. 【課題】光の輝度の低下をユーザに知覚させることなく、消費電力を削減する。【解決手段】表示装置のバックライトモジュールが、光源と、光駆動制御部と、駆動電流調整部と、を備える。光駆動制御部は光源の駆動電流を出力する。駆動電流調整部は、所定周期毎に、光源に供給される駆動電流の電流値を第1電流値から第2電流値に低下させる。その後、駆動電流調整部はさらに、人間の目の残像現象に基づいて知覚される光像の輝度の減少量に対応する光量の光が光源から出射されるように、電流値を増加させる。【選択図】図6
