Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal plating roller which can be manufactured at a low cost while securing the rigidity in relation to the metal plating roller using a fiber-reinforced plastic used for a roller of conveyance equipment and a core of film, etc. or the like.SOLUTION: A metal plating roller is composed of an element pipe 1 comprising a glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP), a conductive layer 2 formed by applying a conductive coating material onto an outer circumferential surface of the element pipe 1, a first plating layer 3 made of iron plating successively formed on the conductive layer 2 and a second plating layer 4 made of a hard chromium plating. The GFRP is relatively inexpensive, therefore, the reduction of manufacturing cost of the metal plating roller is permitted and, at the same time, the rigidity can be secured by the first plating layer 3 and the corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance and the like can be secured by the second plating layer 4. Thereby, the metal plating roller which has light weight and durability can be applied for wide usages. 【課題】搬送設備のローラや、フィルム等のコア等に用いられる繊維強化プラスチックを用いた金属メッキロールを、剛性を確保しつつ低コストで製造すること。【解決手段】ガラス繊維強化プラスチック(GFRP)からなる素管1と、この素管1の外周面に導電性塗料を塗布して形成した導電層2と、この導電層2上に順次形成された鉄メッキからなる第一メッキ層3と、ハードクロムメッキからなる第二メッキ層4とで金属メッキロールを構成する。GFRPは比較的安価であるため、この金属メッキロールの製造コストの低減を図ることができるとともに、第一メッキ層3によって剛性が、第二メッキ層4によって耐食性や耐摩耗性等がそれぞれ確保される。これにより、軽量で耐久性を備えた金属メッキロールを幅広い用途に適用することが可能となる。【選択図】図1
