Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing induced pluripotent stem cells which is excellent in production efficiency, which can be produced in a short period of time, and which is also excellent in quality aspects, and to provide a composition for producing induced pluripotent stem cells.SOLUTION: A method for producing induced pluripotent stem cells comprises the steps of introducing Oct3/4 genes or a gene product thereof, Sox2 genes or a gene product thereof, Klf4 genes or a gene product thereof, c-Myc genes or a gene product thereof, and Jarid2 mutant genes or a gene product thereof into somatic cells. The Jarid2 mutant gene or a gene product thereof is a gene encoding amino acids from the first to the 551st of the N terminal of a Jarid2 protein or a gene product thereof.
