PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device allowing downsizing of a traverse chassis while securing the enough strength of the traverse chassis.SOLUTION: The optical disk device comprises: a loader body 14; a traverse chassis 18 provided so as to be lifted or lowered with respect to the loader body 14; a stepping motor 50 supported on a support area 44 of the traverse chassis 18; a lead screw 52 rotated by the stepping motor 50; a first guide shaft 62 supported on a support area 60 of the traverse chassis 18; and an optical pickup 68 rotatable along the first guide shaft 62 by the rotation of the lead screw 52. The traverse chassis 18 further includes a connection wall part 88 which mutually connects the support area 44 and the support area 60, extends from the support area 44 toward the support area 60, and extends substantially in parallel to the lead screw 52. 【課題】トラバースシャーシの強度を十分に確保しながら、トラバースシャーシを小型化することができる光ディスク装置を提供する。【解決手段】ローダ本体１４と、ローダ本体１４に対して昇降可能に設けられたトラバースシャーシ１８と、トラバースシャーシ１８の支持領域４４に支持されたステッピングモータ５０と、ステッピングモータ５０により回転されるリードスクリュー５２と、トラバースシャーシ１８の支持領域６０に支持された第１のガイド軸６２と、リードスクリュー５２の回転によって、第１のガイド軸６２に沿って移動可能な光ピックアップ６８と、を備え、トラバースシャーシ１８は、さらに、支持領域４４と支持領域６０とを相互に接続する接続壁部８８を有しており、接続壁部８８は、支持領域４４から支持領域６０に向けて延び、且つ、リードスクリュー５２と略平行に延びている。【選択図】図４
