Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct image quality degradation due to image shake resulting from hand shake even if speed shaking a camera is not constant, fluctuation occurs in a direction orthogonal to a direction of shaking the camera or the speed of shaking the camera does not match a subject moving speed at a time of panning.SOLUTION: In a panning control unit, if a panning detection unit detects a panning state following panning or tilting operation, an angular velocity calculation unit determines a rotational direction that serves as a main direction of panning and a tilt angle on the basis of a magnitude relation between an absolute value of a first angular velocity and that of a second angular velocity and calculates a panning angular velocity and a tilting angular velocity that serve as reference angular velocities in a first or second direction from one of the first and second angular velocities based on this determination on the basis of a ratio based on the first and second angular velocities just before exposure and the tilt angle, and a shake correction unit calculates an image shake correction amount on the basis of difference between the first angular velocity and the panning angular velocity and difference between the second angular velocity and the tilting angular velocity. 【課題】 流し撮り時に、カメラを振る速度が一定でなく、カメラを振った方向と直交する方向の揺れが生じたり、カメラを振る速度が被写体の移動速度と一致していなくても、手ブレに起因した像ブレによる画質劣化を補正すること。【解決手段】 流し撮り制御部では、流し撮り検出部によりパンニング、またはチルティング操作に伴う流し撮り状態であると検出したときに、角速度算出部は、第1の角速度と第2の角速度との絶対値での大小関係に基づいて、流し撮りの主方向となる回転方向と、傾き角を判定し、この判定に基づいて、いずれか一方の角速度から、第1又は第2の方向の基準角速度となるパンニング角速度及びチルティング角速度を露光直前の第1の角速度と第2の角速度と、傾き角に基づく比率に基づいてそれぞれ算出し、ブレ補正部は、第1の角速度とパンニング角速度の差と、第2の角速度とチルティング角速度の差とに基づいて、像ブレ補正量を算出する。【選択図】図6
