Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-contact type charger capable of detecting that the position at which an object to be charged is placed is off a prescribed position, and a method for detecting a charge.SOLUTION: A charger 1 comprises: object detection units 11, 13 for detecting the presence, in proximity, of an object 70 to be charged and provided at least two inside a terminal placement part 3; a gravity detection unit 15 for detecting the gravity of the object 70 to be charged and provided inside the terminal placement unit 3; and a determination unit 21 for determining, on the basis of a detection signal inputted from each of the object detection units 11, 13 and the gravity detection unit 15. When there is no input of the detection signal from at least one of the object detection units 11, 13 and there is input of the detection signal from the gravity detection unit 15, the determination unit 21 determines that the object 70 to be charged is not normally placed in the terminal placement part 3.
