Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method for quickly and efficiently sorting, from a copper sulfide ore accompanied by molybdenite, the copper sulfide ore and a molybdenum-containing molybdenite.SOLUTION: In the provided method for separating copper and molybdenum, a mixture of a copper-containing ore and a molybdenum-containing ore is irradiated with a plasma within an atmosphere including oxygen as an oxidant so as to plasma-treat the respective surfaces of the copper-containing ore and molybdenum-containing ore, and after the plasma-treated mixture has subsequently been washed with an aqueous alkali metal solution whose pH has been adjusted by adding an alkali solution thereto, the washed mixture is subsequently subjected to flotation so as to separate the same into the copper-containing ore and molybdenum-containing ore.
