Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that reduces velocity transients in a printing system caused by media entering a transfer nip.SOLUTION: A system comprises an imaging drum 12, a variable speed motor 42, a transfix roll, a transfix nip, a media transport, a thickness sensor, a skew sensor, a media sensor, switching means, and a controller. Media thickness measurements 32 and/or media skew measurements 32 are used in a feedforward control scheme to increase the imaging drum torque when a media sensor 36 detects media immediately before the media is engaged with a transfer nip.
